Our History
Chesterfield is a city located in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The area that is now Chesterfield was first settled by European Americans in the early 19th century. The community was named after the Earl of Chesterfield, who was a friend of the local landowner. Throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, Chesterfield remained primarily an agricultural community, with many farms and orchards in the area. In the 1950s, Chesterfield experienced significant growth as St. Louis expanded westward. In the following decades, the city continued to grow and develop, becoming a major commercial and residential hub. Today, Chesterfield is home to a number of high-end shopping centers, corporate headquarters, and a thriving business community. Despite its growth and development, Chesterfield has worked to preserve its historical roots, with several landmarks and buildings dating back to its early days still standing and in use.
