Our History
Wildwood, Missouri, has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century when it was first settled by farmers and fur traders. The area was initially known as the "Wilderness" due to its rugged terrain and dense forests. In the mid-1800s, the construction of a railroad line brought new growth to the area, and Wildwood became a popular destination for vacationers and outdoor enthusiasts. In the early 20th century, the town's name was changed to Grover, after President Grover Cleveland. The town was renamed Wildwood in the 1990s, and today it is a thriving suburb of St. Louis with a population of over 35,000 people. Wildwood is known for its natural beauty, with numerous parks and nature reserves, as well as its strong community spirit and commitment to preserving its rich history.
